Dear Blog, part IV, on religious jokes...

I need to talk about you, concerning your jokes about Religion.

I think they are very funny, so far.
Admiration has been your part; we got posted on Blogworld, The Humor DaiIy; I consider this, to be great recognition. About the joke on Jewish Humor and golf. But not only admiration, we did get.

There are always people who believe, that you shouldn't make jokes about Jesus, Jews, and The Holy Church.
Apart from the fact there is a whole Jewish tradition built on this, I fail to see why.
Humor is a way of dealing with every day life; that is how humans cope.

Since Religion takes a big part in our society, it is only natural to make jokes about it.
This has nothing to do with lack of respect; this has to do with just the opposite: Awe.
People make fun of the things, they fear most.
By ridiculizing our fears - via humor - we learn to handle them.

You know, I am a spiritual man; and you also know, I carry deep respect for Religion as such.
Plus the fact, that I can be a very funny man.
I only make jokes about the things, I keep deep in my heart.
And I have big heart, as we all know.

OK: one short one:

Rumour has it, that the nails used to crucify Jesus were bought from his stepfather, Joseph of Nazareth, the Carpenter.
He couldn't stand the idea, that his stepson was nailed to the cross with inferior materials; those Jews...
He also supplied the wood for the cross, plus a couple of hammers.
Though his wife has never forgiven him since, he made a pretty penny out of it.
On further consideration, the nails were rubbish; they were easily able to pull them out, afterwards.
But what ever happened with that cross? The wood was very expensive...

Now, that is what I call Jewish humor...
